After a fun night at Pinewood Social on Friday, the next morning, as much as we didn’t want to, we had to say goodbye to Nicki. We went to Fido in Hillsboro Village for brunch so that we could send Nicki off with some good coffee and food. We’ve never seen this dog themed restaurant so busy, the line at the counter was nearly out the back door! We spent as much time as we could chatting with Nicki before we all headed back across town to meet back up with everyone else at the house. On our way back, we stopped at The Fatherland District to do a little shopping at Project 615 and Rusty Rat. If you’re looking for unique shirt designs that scream Tennessee, Project 615 has you covered. Rusty Rat has unique antiques and vintage novelties that cannot be found anywhere else! Sadly, we eventually made it back to the house, and Nicki left shortly afterwards.

While we were gone, everyone else went for breakfast and to explore a little on their own. Once we all met back up, we started making plans for the rest of the day. It was finally decided that we’d hit up Hatch Show Print at the Omni Hotel to get some souvenir prints before heading to the taproom at Yazoo Brewing Company. No matter how many times we go, Hatch never disappoints to have some of their most interesting prints available. Our group grabbed some Nashville prints to decorate their homes before grabbing some Nashville pints at Yazoo in the Gulch. A favorite of ours while we called Tennessee home, Yazoo was one of the very first craft breweries in Nashville. Nate grabbed a Hopry Double IPA while Jaime helped herself to a Beer Named Sue. Since they’d never been there before, the rest of the group got flights with all of Yazoo’s beers, giving them a taste of their Gerst, Sly Rye Porter, Daddy-O Pilsner, and Dos Perros beers, among others. We picked up some stickers and a glass to bring back to Texas while we were there.

From Yazoo, we decided to head to Hurry Back, a bar on Elliston Place with board games and an old school Nintendo hooked up to a big screen tv! We all played bubble hockey and board games, while Jason busied himself with a game of Zelda. It started getting later and we all decided to head back to the house, so we could start getting ready to make dinner and go out that night. After we finally were able to pull him away, Jason continued talking about his game of Zelda even after getting back to the house! He’d probably still be there today if we’d left without him. Once we got home, we started making spaghetti for dinner, keeping it easy so everyone could have as much as they wanted while keeping costs low. After dinner, we all got ready to celebrate the New Year!

Once everyone was ready, it was picture time! After taking as many pictures as we could, we all piled into one car and headed downtown.

We were worried about the weather and the parking situation, but both ended up being just fine. We parked about two blocks away from Robert’s Western World, but it didn’t take us long to get there. The city closed down most of Broadway, which was really good because it seemed like half of Davidson County was celebrating downtown!

It was a tight fit in Robert’s, but we made our way around a table near the bar and listened to some great old country music. We even got a special rendition of Auld Lang Syne on the fiddle at midnight! This was absolutely an unforgettable experience, and one that future NYE celebrations will be compared to!

The next morning, we woke up and crossed something else off our Nashville Bucket List we never got to do, when we met up with our friends Chris and Alicia Cahill at the famous Loveless Cafe. After celebrating New Year’s Eve, some good ole Southern cooking was exactly what we needed, and Loveless had that in spades! We don’t get to see the Cahills very often, even when we travel Tennessee because our schedules sometimes don’t line up, so we were thrilled to get to see them.

After eating ourselves into a food coma, we headed back to Murfreesboro to Nate’s parent’s house to spend a little longer with them and pick up Myleigh, who we both missed dearly by this point! As a thank you for taking care of her, we treated them to dinner that night and were happy to spend more time with them before having to drive back to Texas the next morning.

Our holiday trip was absolutely a whirlwind, leaving us more exhausted when we returned than when we left! However, it was a trip where we got to spend time with family and introduce friends to some of our favorite places. We wouldn’t have changed a single part of the trip, and would absolutely do it all over again!
